Fuel strategy changes the project economics
Diesel platforms are often easier to deploy in standby projects because fuel storage is controlled onsite. Gas systems become more attractive when pipeline gas or treated biogas is reliable and available.
The right comparison is never just purchase price. It should include operating hours, maintenance profile, site permitting and emissions targets.
Operating profile matters more than headline efficiency
A standby hospital or factory project is not evaluated the same way as a continuous distributed energy installation. Diesel often wins on deployment speed, while gas can win on continuous-duty economics.
If hybrid solar or battery assets are planned, gas generator control strategy may align better with the long-term dispatch model.
